Getting acquainted with our San Antonio OBGYN, Dr. Ilanna Loeffel

Dr. Ilanna Loeffel prides herself on educating her patients about their bodies and health. She uses the teaching experience she gained from working with medical students to help women better understand their bodies. She says, “I like to make my patients feel comfortable to talk about the things that are bothering them without them feeling embarrassed or self-conscious about what they are saying.”

Dr. Ilanna Loeffel received her education from prestigious Texas institutions

Our San Antonio OBGYN began her education at the University of Texas, receiving a Bachelor of Science in psychology. She went on to receive a Master of Science in medical sciences at the University of North Texas Health Science Center.

For her medical degree, Dr. Ilanna Loeffel went to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She remained there for her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Loeffel pursued her interest in gynecologic oncology by completing the Felix Rutledge Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology, a one-month rotation at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

This OBGYN added to her skillset through teaching and research experience

Curious by nature, Dr. Loeffel pursued several research opportunities during medical school and her residency training. She delved into everything from ovarian and cervical cancer to laparoscopic surgery topics. She was the chief resident for her class and received the Outstanding Teaching Award in both 2016 and 2017. She also received the Ryan Resident Scholarship that allowed her to pursue additional family planning training.

Our San Antonio OBGYN stays busy outside of work with family and hobbies

This board certified physician enjoys spending time with her husband and son as well as family and friends. In her leisure time, she likes to do arts and crafts, cook, and read.
