During hysteroscopy, our San Antonio OBGYN inserts a thin, lighted device called a hysteroscope into the vagina. The hysteroscope holds a camera and surgical instruments.

With laparoscopy, Dr. Loeffel inserts an instrument called a laparoscope into small incisions in the abdomen to view the pelvic and abdominal organs. She uses surgical instruments at the end of the laparoscope to perform surgery.

Ilanna Loeffel MD received a certification in da Vinci robotic gynecologic surgery. Robotic surgery is a form of minimally invasive surgery. During the procedure, Dr. Loeffel guides robotic arms and instruments from a console that provides an enhanced view of the area. Robotic surgery allows Dr. Loeffel to perform technically challenging procedures to provide successful outcomes.
